Ujjain is an ancient city located in the state of Madhya Pradesh which is also known as the city of Mahakal and has a rich history. It is considered one of the seven holy cities of Hinduism. One of the main attractions of Ujjain is the Mahakaleshwar temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva and believed to be one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of India. It is also the site of the Kumbh Mela which is held once every twelve years.
